I have tried several of the distributions derived from PCLOS, and this one has been my favorite of the super-small ones. It is the only Linux that installed and just worked on a HP-Vectra "Coppermine" that I picked up at the local university surplus. It uses a legacy kernel ( 2.6.18.8 ). It worked so well, in fact, and had the tools so easily accessible, that I was actually able to re-master my first Linux OS! This little operating system pretty, intuitive and is really sweet, in my opinion. If you are having trouble installing - even - AntiX, I would recommend you give this sweet little distro a go.
(PS: There are still 5 seeders at the Linux Tracker Website, at this time, if you are interested in taking a look. The ISO weighs in at a whopping 234.9 MB's.)

jblu,
Thanks for the eval of TinyFlux. I'm running it now (after reading your recommendation) on an older laptop of mine. It seems to be doing fine and was certainly an easy install. I'll put it through the paces over the next several days and see how it does. Thanks.

Great! I was quite impressed with it, obviously. Right or left clicking on the Desktop for the menus and having Gkrellum to monitor things, plus quite a nice assortment of software and an attractive design are other reasons I like it. I don't have that computer running right now, but I thought it was really stable, too, even after installing a considerable amount of software, and making my remastered version. I've tried a lot of distros, and TinyFlux was one that really got my attention in a positive way.
Nice to meet you, BTW.

Same here, jblu. Always good to meet a fellow linux user.

I have "attacked" TinyFlux all weekend and have yet to find a chink in its armor. Program selection (repositories) is more than adequate. I'm even running a couple of KDE packages without problems. Video and Audio work well, wireless setup was a breeze (ndiswrapper) and the os is plenty fast. My only complaint (small one at that) is the time it takes to boot up. I have been using antix on a similar laptop and it boots much, much faster than TinyFlux. But, for the most part, that's not a problem. TinyFlux is a keeper, I think.

Thanks again for mentioning it.
