Farcry is still about, just up to his ears in other "stuff"

The SBLinux Forums have grown from the tight-knit cadre of Mepis Torrent guys and Archers that made up most of the founding crew. Here is where we can all say a few words about ourselves and get better acquainted. If you've just joined the Forum, this is the perfect place to introduce yourself!

:D Oh no guys, you haven't got rid of me yet! I've been quiet because of a deluge of other "stuff", including the fallout from a family bereavement and some grinding changes at work.

Just to update on the Linux front: I'm still primarily an Arch-er, but have now completely dropped the use of big desktop environments like KDE and GNOME, preferring instead Openbox as a window manager + specific supplementary programs such as fbpanel, lxappearance, lxtask etc; have also settled on wicd as my network manager. It took quite a bit of a time to adjust to a more minimal system, but the improved performance, lower memory usage, and simpler maintenance has more than repaid the investment.

On my Asus Eee PC 701 I'm running a stripped down version of Cruncheee - the Eee-specific variant of #! CrunchBang linux, based on Ubuntu 8.10. I often still drop into the MepisLovers forum and play around sometimes with AntiX in a VirtualBox vm. Haven't tried Mepis 8.0 yet, but will do when time permits.

Bye for now!
