wcc1776 intro

The SBLinux Forums have grown from the tight-knit cadre of Mepis Torrent guys and Archers that made up most of the founding crew. Here is where we can all say a few words about ourselves and get better acquainted. If you've just joined the Forum, this is the perfect place to introduce yourself!

Wow John, that's a tough act to follow, but I'll give it a humble (very humble) try.
I'm Wayne Combs, aka wcc1776, married to Debby for 34 years. We have three sons, who have blessed us with 5 grandchildren, with another due in Feburary.
By trade I'm a heavy equipment/ crane operator, been doing so for 33 years now. Looking real hard at retiring so I have more time to play with my computer. If I had a little more time maybe I could learn something.
Been a member of the American Legion for 38 years, I'm Past Master and 29 year member of the F&AM.
Got started with a computer back in 1999 when Deb bought one for her home business. A Gateway with Windows 98, moved on to Windows XP, which met a somewhat premature demise.
The guy who I had work on that and eventually build me a new rig from spare parts, had fixed my Mom's computer a few months before, and had talked her into installing SimplyMEPIS 6.0. He showed me how to keep it updated, and how to get a printer going. I was hooked, started visiting MEPIS org forums and mepislovers. So when he built that computer I had him install MEPIS 6.5 on mine. Since that time I've been a "pita" on the forums with some of the questions I asked in the beginning. I've learned more about computers and how they work since Aug 2006 than I ever learned while using windows.
While trying to give back a little something to MEPIS I've became a member of the torrent team and tried to help with the new community website. Hopefully I can do more in the future as my knowledge grows but some days it 2 steps forward and 3 steps back on my Linux journey.
Wayne
