NEW FORUM SOFTWARE UPGRADE

What you need to know about what's happening!

Unlike "Announcement" sections on other forums, this is NOT restricted to admins and mods. ANY SBLinux member is cool enough to post here. Just keep it relevant to all of us as a group.

NEW FORUM SOFTWARE UPGRADE

We are about due to be upgraded to phpBB version 3.

I've been holding off since we started hosting the private working forum for the Mepis Community Website project. Sure, everything about the upgrade could go smoothly. . .or it could screw us so that we couldn't get work done for a week.

Once the new Mepis Community site is up and we can afford a day or two of down time if problems with the upgrade occur, I'll initiate the switchover.

Don't worry, SB. It will be ok. I switched the antiX forum to the newer phpBB v3 with no problems.
Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

UPGRADE PLANNED FOR TUESDAY 02 SEPTEMBER

After anticapitalista has reassured me, I have decided to use tomorrow, 02 September 2008 to do the forum upgrade. InshaAllaah problems at the mepiscommunity.org website will be dormant for a few hours so that the project members who are using sblinux forums for their business won't be inconvenienced for very long while I switch things over.

Planned down time 11:00-13:00 Eastern Daylight time -- 15:00 - 17:00 GMT.

UPGRADE in 40 minutes

sblinux.freeforums.org is going off line for a software upgrade in 40 minutes. Check back an hour or two later for the NEW IMPROVED pfpBB version 3!
