Hi Wayne, and thanks for getting this up at Linux Tracker. I got into the swarm yesterday, early on. I finally gave up last night around 2:30 in the morning, with about 95 per cent of the file downloaded. I didn't realize that almost everyone at Mepis Lovers used uTorrent.
:o
And those people grabbed the file and then left the swarm. You can see from my upload at Linux Tracker, how much I had uploaded and still didn't complete the file downloading. I am going to start Deluge again today, and try to complete the download, but something seems quite fishy about an almost organized bunch of uTorrents, sharing with each other and taking from me, but not giving me much of anything. I've written down some of those uTorrent addresses and they all seem to come from a block of addresses starting with: 78.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx. Also, the lone seeder (you, I would imagine) never even entered into my swarm, and if it did, I would only get less than 1kb/s from you, even though my share ration was well over 1:1! So, I switched from Deluge to Azureus, to get some better control and choices, but my luck in downloading didn't change. Just curious, but this is one of the strangest things I've seen in my years of dealing with torrents. Anyone else see this?

Hi jblu,
Thanks for helping seed, I was feeling pretty lonely there for awhile. I noticed a couple of things yesterday that I thought odd. It took about 2-1/2 to 3 hours for me to get my first leecher after I posted the torrent, thought maybe because this is the first torrent I'd uploaded with Deluge 1.0 series. I'd been uploading on MEPIS 7 with the 0.9.5 series. Or there may have been alot of traffic on my ISP that time of day.
My guess the utorrent bunch was microsofties wanting to check out KDE 4, downloading as guests and getting out as soon as they finished downloading. Most times folks from mepislovers log in to Linuxtracker and seed for awhile after they are done, but that's just from observations in the past.
I had noticed that you and Danum both were downloading but not getting anywhere, very fast. I don't have a lot of bandwidth here and thought maybe that was the cause, as there weren't but a couple of seeders for most of the day.
I posted announcements here, on mepislovers, and at Danum's new site, but it may have been the time of day for the lack of response. Oh well, things seem to be going better today last I checked.
Are you using the Deluge 1.0 series yet, I'm using Stevos build from mlrepo on M8, set up like I had things set up in M7 with Deluge 0.9.3.5. When we get a few seeders going I may drop out for awhile and re-check my settings. I also want to install Cano-be so I can test it.
Anyway thanks again for helping seed.

Hey Wayne,
I felt that "those" uTorrent folks were probably taking all your bandwidth. In no way did I mean to be critical of you! If they were sharing amongst themselves, as it appeared, they would also be indicating to your Deluge that they were sharing graciously. But the catch is, sharing graciously among themselves! I've seen little games like this played before, but never to such an extent as this.
As far as the Deluge I was using, I am running Pardus Linux for this, with their version of Deluge: 1.1.6.
I've had a lot of trouble with computers lately, and I haven't been helping to seed any torrents for several weeks. I've rebuilt systems so many times lately, I've lost count! I think I finally have things fixed and running well. Of my three home Desktop 'puters I'm running Mepis-8 32bit on my main machine, Wolvix on my play machine and Pardus aureus (sp?) is the machine I'm using for torrents. Of course Mepis is still my main OS, but I'm really enjoying Wolvix and, of course, Linux doesn't get any more stable than Pardus, from my experience.
I show 5 seeders right now, and 2 leechers who aren't downloading from me. It might be a good time to burn a disk and install...I'll keep seeding unless I have more computer problems.

Hi John,
No problem, I didn't take it as criticism. I was just wondering if I had my set up right, beings it was the first upload I'd done using the 1.0 series.
The bit-torrent idea works well if everyone does their share, but we've all seen the download and go crowd. Luckily they're enough of us who care and do our share of seeding.
Thanks again for being a member of the MTT and helping seed.
