LinuxTracker.org and Mepis torrents

Postby Occam on Fri Aug 21, 2009 8:38 pm

It has been weeks, and I haven't had any access to LT via http or bittorrent.

With Wayne's help, I was able to reach Mark at LT. He put my IP on the site's whitelist, but I wasn't blacklisted to begin with, and nothing changed.

If this situation doesn't improve, we'll need a "Plan B" for Mepis torrents.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi Occam:
What you describe makes me wonder if your Internet Service Provider isn't blocking you from Bittorrent, and maybe even from Bittorrent Web sites? Have you tried going to any other Bittorrent Web sites, like MiniNova, etc?

Hi jblu,

I guess my ISP could be blocking linuxtracker, but I don't see why they would. The amount of bandwidth I'm using there is trivial compared to the amount I use seeding debian DVDs.

There's a thread at MepisLovers:
http://www.mepislovers.org/forums/showt ... hp?t=22581
regarding others who are having trouble with linuxtracker, so I thought the problem was widespread.

Hmmm, curious.. what happens when you click this link from here? I doubt it, but could the URL have changed recently to the Web site? Maybe you have it bookmarked and aren't getting a referral???

Hi, Occam,
I read you first post again. I could not log into the tracker at one point, either, and I think you are right, it was a widespread problem. I had been following the thread at Mepis Lovers, (the link you posted here) but had no suggestions to offer that were not being pursued. I think the management at Linux Tracker is regaining control from the DDoS attack. It's certainly been easier for me to log in there in the last 2 days. I'm fresh out of ideas about how to get you connected up again at Linux Tracker. If you don't have a static address maybe that has changed? You could double-check that at someplace like whatsmyip. Does anyone else here have a suggestion?

jblu,

My IP address changes only with prolonged power outages. That seems to be about once or twice a year -- I check it weekly.

Mark at LinuxTracker just asked me to try again, and I conected without difficulty, both with http and bittorrent.

I'm currently seeding antiX and Mepis-DVD_KDE-4.2.

Hi Bruce,
Been following this thread, but didn't have anything costructive to add, seemed like jblu had things under control.
Was just over at LT and noticed that Mark got you hooked back up in the nick of time
