Linux Tracker Torrent

Postby wcc1776 on Wed Jul 02, 2008 11:49 pm

I had been seeding a torrent on Linux Tracker for the last 3-4 weeks. Tonight I re-booted and left my machine for about 10 minutes, and when I came back Deluge had me downloading the torrent I had been seeding all this time. Any ideas what would cause this? Thanks in advance, Wayne.

Hi Wayne,
That is odd. The first thing that came to my mind, is that after rebooting, Deluge didn't link to the folder where the original complete file resided. For some reason, unknown, Deluge chose a different Directory (Folder) to download the file to and since the complete file wasn't there, proceeded to download the file, again. Try opening the .torrent file, and pointing it directly at the file you had been seeding. It should load and seed that file, checking to see if all the pieces are there. Then make sure that it's preferences are set to always download to that same directory.
I create a Torrent folder in my /Home and any bittorrent client I use, whether it's Deluge, Ktorrent or Azureus, are all set to use that same Torrent Folder.

Thanks for the reply jblu, I just started this bit-torrent thing a few weeks ago and still have a lot to learn. I have download/upload file,a loaded torrents file, and a new torrents file. The iso in question is in the download/upload file. Would that be where I want it?
Could you tell me how to point the torrent at the file I had been seeding?
Thanks again,Wayne.

Yes, I believe so. If you right click on that .iso, does it show the full, correct file size? If so, that's the file, and Deluge should reload it and start seeding it. Do you still have the little file that you downloaded from Linux tracker? If so, open that with Deluge and save it to where that .iso is. You can always redownload that little file from Linux Tracker if you don't have it.

EDIT:
Wayne, just so you don't somehow delete that .iso, which I've had happen. :-) Click on it and drag it somewhere safe, and COPY it there. (So you have a backup.) You might have to remove the file you are seeding from the cue in Deluge, then reload the torrent file and tell Deluge to save it where your original .iso is. Let me know!

In the top drop-down menus of Deluge, choose Edit -> Preferences->Downloads->Store all downloads in: (and choose the directory where your .iso is.)
